Richard Manuel & Tamsyn Webb

Richard is a world-class professional Argentine Tango dancer with more than 25 years’ experience

Richard has taught, choreographed and performed in 12 countries, including Argentina, and more than 140 cities around the world for workshops, festivals, shows & private corporate events. Richard joined the West End show “Midnight Tango” in 2011, performing in a staggering 344 shows from 2012-2013 alongside Vincent & Flavia. He also performed on Strictly Come Dancing on BBC 1 in 2012. He has appeared on many other UK touring shows including “Romance d’Carnaval”, “Fervorosa”, “Tangomotion”, “Language of the Heart”, and was the choreographer and performed on the show “Tango! Tango!” about Astor Piazzolla’s life (2008-2012).

In 2018, he choreographed and performed in three promotional videos : for the Santiago Quartet; the rock band The 5th Element and The Great Masked Ball for The Lost Estate.   Richard is touring with Carismático from Autumn 2024 through to Spring 2025, performing at theatres around the UK. Richard’s teaching methods incorporate technical expertise, elegance and versatility across different tango styles for social dance. He is highly regarded in terms of creativity on the dance floor, emphasising musicality and connection. His approach to tango aims to impart freedom for expression to his students, giving them the tools to improvise and interpret the music intuitively, whilst respecting the social dance etiquette and demonstrating technical skill. As well as having his own tango school in Kent, Richard is regularly invited to teach at different tango clubs both nationally and internationally, catering for international students through his abilities to teach in English, Spanish and French.
Training
I started my tango training in Argentina in Rosario at the end of the 1990s with Ricardo Calvo and Marisa Talamoni. Their choreography of “Bahia Blanca” would remain for me a reference of musicality and elegance. Following this, I studied with Gustavo Naveira & Giselle Anne, Mariano “Chicho” Frumboli & Lucía Mazer, Rodolfo Dinzel, Mauricio Castro & Carla Marano, Melina Brufman, Cristina Cortés amongst others in Buenos Aires for many years.

Richard is a most enjoyable and informative teacher. His classes and workshops are always innovative and creative. He breaks down everything in a way that is understandable and is constantly on hand observing and giving help as you practice. He has a wonderful knowledge and a way of getting his ideas across to everybody attending. Plus it’s such a joy to watch Tamsyn & Richard dance, going to a class is like being at a tango show. The most inspiring teacher, you will leave feeling empowered and with a smile on your face.

Tamsyn began ballet when she was just 3 years old.

She transitioned through different styles including Irish dance, Salsa and Kizomba, settling on Argentine Tango in 2015. Since 2019 Tamsyn has been teaching, choreographing and performing Argentine Tango with Richard in shows around the UK, including “Tangomotion” (2021) and with the band Carismático for the Canterbury Arts Festival (2022). She co-choreographed and performed in promotional videos “Isolation Tango” for Carismático and “The Chairman’s Waltz” in 2020. Tamsyn has been an osteopath for 10 years, using her knowledge of the body and movement to assist in her teaching of Argentine Tango, as well as her extensive musical experience, being a classical pianist since age 7, singer and guitarist.

As a couple, Richard & Tamsyn enjoy the creativity of Tango, threading together elements of connection, freedom in improvisation and musicality of layered movements, bringing this to both their performances and teaching.
