Under the expert guidance of world class professional Argentine Tango dancer and teacher of 26 years, Richard Manuel, you can be confident in your skills in Argentine Tango: traditional, Salón, Milonguero and nuevo styles are taught and welcomed in our classes and practicas.
When attending our classes and workshops, you will be welcomed to a like-minded group of fellow dancers who enjoy that extra challenge and creativity that only Argentine Tango can offer, in a light-hearted and fun group environment.
Our Argentine tango lessons offer an exploration of Argentine Tango movements, combined with helpful technique pointers for both leaders and followers and tips on how to integrate new movements.
We invite you to experience the freedom of Improvisation through connection, musicality and listening, all of which are fundamental components of your Tango journey and will improve many aspects of your dance overall.

CLASS LEVELS EXPLAINED
Whatever your level in Argentine Tango, we have a regular class you can join in Kent to improve your social dance skills with like-minded and enthusiastic dancers !
Beginner Level
Suitable for those who have never danced any style, or Argentine Tango before, including those transitioning from other dance styles (no matter the level in that style). Also great for those who want to refresh or go back to the foundations to improve their dance!
To ensure freedom in improvised Tango, we will teach you:
- Fundamentals of Argentine Tango
- Principles of leading or following
- Traditional improvised figures and sequences for social dance
Beginner level courses are run 3-4 times per year in both Hernhill and Folkestone. You will be able to dance a Tango on completion of the course through leading or following our selected introductory movements.
Beginner Plus Level
Suitable for Argentine Tango dancers with a good grasp of fundamental leading or following technique and ability to dance introductory traditional movements.
In these classes, we will build your confidence in Argentine Tango, preparing you for social dance :
- Combine figures and movements in improvisation
- Share a wider repertoire of options in Argentine Tango
- Build your confidence on the dance floor through musicality
- Further develop your technique as a leader or follower
Improver Level
Suitable for Argentine Tango dancers who are able to lead or follow socially, but wish to expand their ability and vocabulary.
In these classes, we blend traditional, basic movements with more advanced figures refining technique and style.
Intermediate – Advanced Level
Our renowned Monday Argentine Tango class is suitable for experienced Argentine Tango Dancers who want that bit extra from their dance to stand out from the crowd.
The sequences we offer draw on more Advanced level Tango technique, exploring the beauty of different styles in Tango (Salon, Milonguero, Nuevo) & musical interpretation.
We balance numbers of leaders and followers in class. You can join our Beginner Plus, Improver and Intermediate-Advance level classes at any point in the year provided numbers allow. These courses are the best option for total beginner’s, as we move through the fundamentals of Argentine Tango, whilst teaching you some traditional Tango moves.
We uncover the mysteries of leading and following in Argentine Tango, to give you freedom on the dance floor, whilst acquainting you with different Tango Music….and…. HAVING FUN. Yes, Tango can be fun 😀
In these courses, we encourage people to switch partners, as this is best for the learning process. However, should you wish to just dance with your partner, we allow this too.
We balance the number of leaders and followers, so if you are booking by yourself, we will need to ensure there will be enough people dancing the opposite role in the class.
By the end of the course you will be able to:
lead and follow 5-6 different sequences
link together different movements
dance a Tango !!

ABOUT THE TEACHERS:
Richard has been a professional Tango Dancer for 27 years, gracing the stage of Strictly Come Dancing and touring with a number of Argentine Tango shows throughout his career. Tamsyn has been dancing Tango for 10 years, performing and teaching with Richard for the last 7 years.
Together we are known for our connected and creative improvisation and emotional choreographies.

Our workshops will focus in on specific areas in Tango (Salón, milonguero or nuevo), Milonga, Vals or technique.
Workshops last between 1 hour 15 and 1.5 hours and are a great opportunity to really delve into specific aspects of leading, following and musicality of particular movements in detail.
We combine the sequence with helpful technique pointers and exercises to improve quality of movement and confidence in leading and following. Workshops will be followed by a milonga or practica.
We teach across the UK and in Europe.

Private Lessons
An excellent option for those who really want to stand out on the dance floor and improve their technique through lessons that focus solely on them and their abilities.
To develop your tango further, or work one to one with Richard on particular aspects of your dance, private Argentine tango lessons are available for booking during the week in Kent.
Private lessons are offered at all levels, from Beginner (never danced before) through to advanced level Tango Dancers.
At events such as workshops and festivals, private lessons can also be booked. Please note there is limited availability, please see the calendar or use the contact form below to enquire.

Tango Retreat 11-18 April 2026 - Andalucía
We invite you to join us and our wonderfully studious group of tango dancers as we venture for a week in the Andalucian hills around Malaga for a 1 week Tango Retreat.
11th - 18th April 2026
It’s a perfect opportunity to take a step back from the busy-ness of everyday life and full on diaries, to a place of peacefulness in which you’ll deepen your physical understanding of Argentine Tango as well as have ample opportunity to unwind and relax, or continue dancing in a chilled environment
Teacher Training
Richard has extensive experience and has studied not only Tango but also the art of teaching tango over two decades.
He has taught a number of tango teachers in private lesson format, refining their dance to ensure the technical quality can be passed on to their students.
Furthermore, Richard offers specific Tango Teacher Training Private lessons. These lessons are ideal for those who already run classes or aspire to teaching students in the future. Lessons will provide specific details around the movements you would like to teach, that will assist you in the class setting and enable you to help your students achieve.
Teacher training courses and syllabuses are also available for those who wish to teach under our wings as part of Tangoloop, with the added benefit of continued support in teaching and running your classes. Please express your interest via email with a cover letter and sample video of you dancing. Quality is important to us, so entry to this course requires an excellent standard of improvised Tango, and a good knowledge of the Tangoloop teaching approach. Terms and Conditions apply.
Performance Oriented Private Lessons
With extensive performance experience on stage, and at milongas and Tango festivals, Richard has assisted dancers in preparing for entry into competitions, where the fine execution of the dance really matters.
In Performance oriented Private Lessons, Richard assists the couple or individual not only in technical abilities and perfecting lines and movements, but also in performance specific details such as musicality, performance space and audience engagement.
These private lessons are available to Argentine Tango dancers preparing for competition or performances with Choreography, including Tango Stage as well as for Improvised salon Tango.
Performance Oriented 1 hour Private Lesson: £110

Our Teaching Approach
Richard has taught Argentine Tango in the UK for 25 years, initially teaching classes in London, that were fondly referred to by students as ‘the only advanced tango classes in London’.

class structure
We encourage dancers to switch partners as this really builds confidence for everyone and prepares you for social dance. However, we also respect that some couples prefer to dance only together, which is also perfectly fine 😊
Our classes are 1 hour long, with either 30 minutes or 15 minutes práctica. Please see regular weekly classes for further information. Workshops tend to be 1 hour 15 minutes, or 1.5 hours.
